Anchor links let users jump to specific sections of a page with a single click. They’re ideal for long pages, especially if you want to draw attention to key sections like contact forms or team bios.
Here’s how to set them up in Webflow using a "Meet the Team" button as an example.
Set the Anchor Target
- In the Webflow Designer, open the Navigator panel on the left.
- Find the section you want to link to – for example, the “Our Team” section.
- Select that section and go to the Element Settings panel on the right.
- Under ID, add a short, simple identifier – in this case:
our-team
This ID is what your button will link to.
Link the Button to the Section
- Go back to the button you want to use – e.g. the “Meet the Team” button.
- In the Element Settings panel, look for the link settings (an icon that looks like a chain or page section).
- Select the ‘Section’ option and choose the ID you just created from the dropdown:
our-team
Test the Link
- Enter Preview Mode.
- Click the “Meet the Team” button.
- You should see a smooth scroll down to the “Our Team” section.
If it jumps instead of scrolling, double-check that both the section and button are on the same page, and that the ID is entered correctly with no spaces.
Why Use Anchor Links?
Anchor links improve page navigation by reducing the need for scrolling. They also:
- Make long-form content easier to digest
- Help users find specific sections faster
- Give your site a more polished, interactive feel
They’re a small detail that can make a big difference to user experience.
Final Thoughts
Whether you’re guiding users to a pricing table, a contact form, or a team intro, anchor links help you do it smoothly. They’re quick to set up and work well on both desktop and mobile.
